Brutalist Italy – concrete architecture from the Alps to the Mediterranean Sea
Roberto Conte & Stefano Perego. OBS! Veckans föreläsning går av stapeln på onsdag.
The two architecture photographers, Roberto Conte and Stefano Perego from Italy, have documented numerous extraordinary buildings worldwide, placing special emphasis on the architectural styles of the 20th century, showcasing the most remarkable examples within this era.
Their photos have been featured in several books, like the Atlas of Brutalist Architecture, This Brutal World, Ruin and Redemption in Architecture and many others.
In 2019 they published “Soviet Asia” (FUEL), a photographic book about how Soviet Modernism was declined in Central Asia. The book, covered by media worldwide, was presented among many others, at the Politecnico di Milano and at the EPFL in Lausanne. It was reprinted in a special version for Japan.
“Brutalist Italy” (FUEL), published in September 2023, received many positive reviews and media coverage. The Financial Times included the book in the list of the 10 top architecture and design books of 2023.
Conte and Perego have lectured about their work in several academies and institutions in Milan, Rome, Venice, Trieste, La Spezia, Copenhagen, Lausanne, Mendrisio, Skopje, Moscow, Kazan, Uljanovsk, Nizhny Novgorod, Almaty and many others.
