Who drives change?
A conversation on demolition norms and citizen-driven transformation with House Europe! and ACAN.
The building boom of the 2010s is over. Many architects are struggling to find work, and many of the homes built during those years stand empty due to high rents. At the same time, buildings continue to be demolished to make room for new ones. House Europe! proposes a shift in the construction sector. In a field that has long relied on financialized housing for its survival, new EU laws may create incentives to preserve existing structures and redirect architectural practice toward transformation and care.
