During At Salone del Mobile in Milan 4th-7th of April 2017 Swedish architects such as White Architects, Kjellander Sjöberg, Tengbom, Claesson Koivisto Rune and Marge Architects participated in programs and exhibitions. They are some of the representatives of the change in Swedish architecture that has taken place the last years.
Annika Grottell, White architects, have curated the exhibition Swedish Design Goes Milan at the fair. The theme for the location was Mingle, as a true meeting place. Architects Sweden hosted three talks on contemporary tendencies within Swedish architecture. On Tuesday, the discussion was about interior architecture – the edge of today and what to expect in the future. On Wednesday the theme was wooden architecture, which is developing fast with a lot of innovative projects. The last on, on Thursday, discussed the change in the contemporary Swedish architecure, the origin of the change and what is to expect.
The movie Woodland Sweden – a part of the exhibition with the same name – was shown at the event as well as at Teatro Arsenale. Sweden has a profound tradition of building in wood and today that tradition goes hand in hand with a desire for experiments in wooden architecture.
