Application 2009

Information to applicants

Over the years, architect Ralph Erskine received several of the world’s principal distinctions and prizes for his architecture. He amalgamated the proceeds into a fund, the Ralph Erskine Nordic Stipend Fund, administered by the Swedish Association of Architects.

The Ralph Erskine Award was established by the fund in 1988 and amounts to 10,000 USD. Its Articles of Endowment provide for it to be conferred upon an individual, group or organization for innovation in architecture and urban design with regard to social, ecological and aesthetic aspects.

The applicant’s efforts must primarily have benefited the less privileged members of society.

The next Ralph Erskine Award will be presented in 2009. Anyone is welcome to apply. Applications shall include a statement indicating how the applicant’s work fulfils the aims of the stipend. The statement should include realized projects relevant to the application and described in a selection of photographs, drawings and a written presentation of the project. A short curriculum vitae of the applicant should also be enclosed. Materials submitted must not exceed 420x290 mm in size.

The material submitted will not be returned unless their return is expressly required in the application.

The applications will be judged and the recipient of the next award chosen by the Board of Trustees of the Fund. The Trustees are elected by the Swedish Association of Architects in collaboration with the national architects’ associations of Denmark, Norway, Finland, Iceland and the Faeroe Islands. The award will be presented in Sweden in the autumn of 2009.

Applications should reach the Fund not later than February 28, 2009. Use the form on this web site or send application to the following address:
